Pastor Stephen (he/him)
Currently serving as Senior Pastor of North Chevy Chase Christian Church in Chevy Chase, Maryland, Stephen is a pastor, educator, and community organizer whose ministry has always lived at the intersection of faith and justice.
Before coming to North Chevy Chase, Stephen served for nearly eight years as Senior Pastor of Central Christian Church of Danbury, Connecticut, where he led a comprehensive church revitalization process. During that season, he also served as Chaplain and Teacher at a K-12 Independent school and was invited to guest lecture at Yale Divinity School, teaching a course on the history, polity, and beliefs of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
Stephen's passion for justice and community was forged long before the pulpit. As Project Director at Union Theological Seminary, he helped to develop the Millennial Leaders Project — a nationally recognized initiative bringing together diverse young activists to explore the relationship between spirituality and social justice. Earlier, as Program Director for New York Faith & Justice, he led the planning of the "Food, Faith & Health Disparities Summit" and organized faith leaders across all five boroughs of New York City around environmental justice.
His commitment to human dignity has also extended into volunteer work — facilitating the Houses of Healing emotional literacy program at the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, and leading fatherhood conversations for men at Saint Joseph Parenting Center.
Stephen is an alumnus of Richard Rohr's Center for Action and Contemplation Living School and holds certifications in Mental Health First Aid and Anti-Racism/Pro-Reconciliation.
Currently, he is serving the denomination as a facilitator for the Cornerstones Cohort Program, a program designed to assist in clergy wellness by the Pension Fund of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He previously served the on the General Board of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and as a Board Member and Trustee for its Northeast Region.
He lives in the Baltimore area with his wife, Bianca, and their two daughters, Kayden and Kendall.
